John Edwards in Indianola 4-21-07

Today (4-21-07), a gorgeous morning here in Indianola, John Edwards spoke to a crowd of Iowa Caucus goers at the home of Ray and Joanne Walton. He spoke for about 10 minutes and then took the rest of his time to answer questions from the roughly 200 Iowans who were in attendance.

While I captured a few of the questions on Video, the others were being blocked by the host of the event, so I have not included them in my vlog.

The first question was from Bob Burns, the former County Chair and current GOTV chair for the Warren County Democrats about gun control on the wake of the Virgina Tech shootings.

The other question I was able to get a good video of was from Chris Nelson, a member of the UAW and the current Treasurer of the Warren County Democrats on the issues of NAFTA and workers rights.

Overall the event was pretty successful, in the end John Edwards and some in the crowd were surprised that no one brought up healthcare so he talked a little about the details of his healthcare plan. Also as a surprising note, no one asked about the Iraq War either.

I liked his answer on trade. I wish he would just come out and say NAFTA has hurt American workers and needs to be re-worked or revoked. Republicans Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo have said this. Where is the Democrat that will take a tough stand on this?

I wish I would be able to get you the next question, he went deeper into NAFTA and the trade issues.
