Dukes of Hazzard Star Ben "Cooter" Jones, David Bonior And Dave "Mudcat" Saunders To Tour Iowa To Discuss John Edwards' Plan For Rural America

Will Meet with Caucus Goers to Discuss Edwards’ Commitment to Restoring Hope to Rural America

On Saturday, December 29th, former Congressman and John Edwards for President National Campaign Manager David Bonior will join former Congressman and “Dukes of Hazzard” star Ben “Cooter” Jones and Edwards rural strategist Dave “Mudcat” Saunders as they embark on a six-day tour across Iowa to campaign on behalf of Senator John Edwards. They will meet with undecided caucus goers and discuss Edwards’ plan to restore hope to rural America. Edwards grew up in a small, rural town and is committed to bringing back jobs and opportunity to rural communities.

Bonior, Jones and Saunders will conduct a series of Meet-N-Greets with caucus goers throughout Iowa. The meetings will allow undecided caucus goers to learn more about where Edwards stands on the issues, including his specific solutions to revitalize rural America, end the war in Iraq, and guarantee truly universal health care.

On Monday, December 31st, Bonior, Jones and Saunders will join Edwards for roundtable discussions with undecided caucus goers, a countdown to caucus event and a New Year’s Eve party.

To kick off their events, Saunders and Jones will be showing a DVD entitled “John Edwards: For the Country,” which outlines Edwards’ commitment to helping America’s small towns and rural communities and his experiences growing up in his small, rural hometown of Robbins, North Carolina. The DVD includes interviews with Edwards’ parents, Bobbie and Wallace Edwards. Additionally, the campaign is launching a new rural website, www.johnedwards.com/iowa/rural, that Iowans can visit to learn more about Edwards’ plan to restore hope to rural America.
