Edwards Momentum Fuels Statewide Canvass This Weekend

This weekend, hundreds of John Edwards supporters will fan out across Iowa to spread the word on Edwards growing momentum and plans to fight for hard-working middle class families. Volunteers from grassroots groups, labor unions, staff and other volunteers will be knocking on doors to persuade undecided Iowans to vote for the candidate with the most detailed plans to change our country.

“John Edwards is talking to as many Iowans as he possibly can over these last few days before the caucuses, giving straight answers to their questions,” said Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, Iowa State Director for John Edwards for President. “This weekend, our volunteer and staff canvassers will be speaking with the caucus goers John can’t reach personally.”

Canvass volunteers will include members of the Iowa Postal Workers Union, Iowa Service Employees International Union, the United Steelworkers, the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, the UNITE HERE Chicago Many of the canvassers will be giving out copies of Edwards’ 80-page policy book, "The Plan to Build One America: Bold Solutions for Real Change,” to interested caucus goers.

Edwards’ campaign has been rapidly gaining momentum in recent weeks, with endorsements by Iowa First Lady Mari Culver, Congressman Bruce Braley and, just yesterday, State Senator Brian Schoenjahn (D-Arlington). New public polls released over the last two days show Edwards in a tie for first place.

Edwards kicked off a final eight-day, 38-county “America Rising: Fighting For The Middle Class" bus tour on Thursday.
