Edwards Supporters Launch New Year's Eve Statewide Canvass

Hundreds of Supporters Across Iowa to Discuss Plans to Fight for the Middle Class across Iowa

Tomorrow, hundreds of John Edwards supporters will embark on a statewide effort to spread the word about Edwards’ growing momentum and plans to fight for hard-working middle class families. Volunteers from grassroots groups, labor unions, staff and other organizations will be knocking on doors in neighborhoods throughout the state to persuade undecided Iowans to caucus for Edwards, the candidate with the boldest plans to change our country.

Volunteers will include members of the Iowa Postal Workers Union, Service Employees International Union, the United Steelworkers, the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and UNITE HERE Chicago and Midwest Regional Joint Board. The canvassers will be handing out copies of Edwards’ 80-page policy book, "The Plan to Build One America: Bold Solutions for Real Change,” to undecided caucus goers.

Edwards’ campaign has been rapidly gaining momentum in recent weeks, with endorsements by Iowa First Lady Mari Culver and Congressman Bruce Braley. New public polls released over the last few days show the race in a dead heat with Edwards surging.

Edwards kicked off a final eight-day, 38-county “America Rising: Fighting For The Middle Class" bus tour last Thursday.
